Sante Graziani American (1920-2005) woman enveloped by flowers ink and wash on board Signed lower right. Biography from the Archives of askART: Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Sante Graziani graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1940. He later attended the Yale University School of Art and Architecture, earning a BFA in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, preparing medical drawings and surgical illustrations. He did numerous mural commissions in public buildings in Massachusetts and the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. In 1962, he abandoned his rather surreal depictions and began incorporating images from famous paintings of the past. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The following is from George Cormier of East Haddam, Connecticut: While I was a student at the School of the Worcester Art Museum, Worcester, MA, Sante was the head of the school and taught. Sante was head of the school from at least 1963 through 1972. During those years Sante was heavily involved in painting in the very popular Pop Art style that I know of. He may have been doing other styles at the time, but I was unaware of it. 26"H x 20"W
